FAFSA Workshop Night for SJHS
Nov. 7, 2022
5:30pm - 7pm @ SJHS Media Center

Having trouble with your FAFSA?

  • Get the assistance you need by engaging directly with financial aid experts and counselors from Lake Michigan College. LMC will have representatives from the Financial Aid and Admissions departments present.
  • Feel free to stop in and get any questions you may have answered!

Completing the FAFSA typically takes 45 minutes. To ensure that we can optimize our time together we ask that you have the following information available:

  • Student and parent/guardian should have an FSA ID created - you can create an FSA ID any time.  (Only one parent/guardian needs an ID.)
  • Tip: WRITE DOWN YOUR ID AND PASSWORD for future reference.
  • A copy of the student and/or the parent's 2021 Tax Returns, if filed*.
  • A copy of the student and/or the parent's 2021 W2s, 1099s and/or Schedule Cs, if student worked and,
  • All 2021 untaxed income information. Untaxed information includes but is not limited to child support, housing, food, and other living allowances, veterans non-educational benefits, etc.

*Some students and parents are able to use the IRS Data Retrieval tool. If you are eligible, you do not need a copy of your 2021 tax returns.

Please note, this workshop is NOT just for those planning to attend Lake Michigan College. It is for all students preparing for any college during the 2023-2024 academic year. We thank you in advance for your participation and look forward to assisting you and your family!

Contact the SJHS Guidance Office to register and for any questions, (269) 926-3210.

FAFSA HELP:

Fastweb (Financial Aid Search Through the Web) is the largest and most complete scholarship search on the Internet. It provides access to a searchable database of more than 275,000 private sector scholarships, fellowships, grants, and student loans. Used by colleges across the United States, Fastweb is now available to you FREE through the World Wide Web, courtesy of St. Joseph High School and Fastweb.com, L.L.C.

To use Fastweb, a student fills out a detailed profile through a series of online forms. After the forms are complete, Fastweb responds within a few minutes with a list of matching awards. Each entry in this list includes information about deadlines, eligibility requirements, award amounts, and contact information for the award provider.
